YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE.
p.s. this is a long post, and if you don't care about AI, don't skip the post right beneath it called "bless this child"
AND NOW...my final thoughts about idol 2008
What a night. I've had a lot of people asking me why I haven't posted about AI yet and honestly it's just because I haven't had very much time on the computer (without a 2 year old at my knees begging for attention). It worked out well though because if I had posted anything last night it would have been something like this, "I hate Simon for jinxing Archuleta and I hate all the Producers of American Idol who have favored Cook all along and pushed for him to win...plus it helps when Cook is rumored to be dating a reality star from So You Think You Can Dance. I'm sure she paid people to vote for him...." and then probably a few curse words and some more accusations. HOWEVER, since I've had some time to think about it and watch some post Finale interviews with both the Davids (and get my emotions in check) I've realized that I'm 100% okay with the outcome. Seriously. I couldn't be happier. Cook knows his style and is ready to crank out an album. (It's a good thing too, because with the Idol crown, he only has until November to bust it out)...Archie will be able to take some time to think about what type of music he'd like to create. He'll have time to write, and be picky about his album (which I CAN'T wait to buy). Cook was deserving of the title...and I thought it was cute of Archie in an article to say "how could I be upset taking second to this guy?!" They've both been so mature and classy about the whole thing. I have never seen such comradery between competitors. Ever. And now it's over and they can just sing without being judged and do what they love. Plus--Archuleta has already have several offers (his words, not mine) and he'll do great. I can't really sum up the whole finale (even though I'd love to because I'm nerdy that way) but I think pictures will sum things up quicker and more beautifully than I can.
Favorite cheesy/funny moment with the Davids.

Most awkward moment: watching Amanda return to sing with the top 6 girls and look bored to death with the whole thing. She didn't even try to look interested.

Favorite Brooke moment: Her barefoot duet. Perfect for her range.

Favorite movie plug: Mike Myers and his Love Guru. I liked the video of him and the Davids. Especially him smearing cream all over Cook's face and Cook not being able to contain his laughter. Oh, and you gotta love the magic carpet that Ryan took a spin on.

Most bizarre dress choice: Jordin Sparks. Seriously--gold aluminum foil? Whuuuut?

Favorite alumni who I had forgotten about: Chikezie! I forgot how much I like this guy.

Favorite Syesha dress of the night: It was the only modest one she wore, but it was very stunning. It must be the latest rage.

Favorite surprise guest: By a landslide--this dude. I can't remember his name, but he is HILARIOUS. I loved how Paula and Randy got up and danced with him, along with the cheerleaders, marching band and Ryan. Dang--I laughed really, really hard.

Favorite duet: Archie singing with One Republic. (and sounding better than him, in my opinion)

Favorite Archie/Cookie moment.

Favorite rocker duet: Oh how they can sing. I wish I was going on tour.

Favorite Carrie Underwood picture: I was glad she showed up, but I was super disappointed with her dress (totally immodest and embarrassingly short) and then her song choice. That is the only song on her new album that I don't like...I was really bummed about it all. This is the only picture I could find of her that wouldn't turn my PG rated site into a PG-13.

Least Favorite Guest Star: Yep, George Michael...yeah he had some big hits 15 years ago, but Clive Davis calls him "the biggest celebrity in America"...is he thinking about the wrong Michael? Plus, Carrie Underwood's version of his own song was far and above his own rendition.

Most classy moment: After Cook wins, he still acknowledges Archuleta and clapped for him. A true gentleman.

Sweetest moment: Cook breaking down into tears after the results. For me it was finally his way of showing how badly he really wanted it. I've had my doubts--but this was good to see.

Coolest picture: What a trip that must be. I can't even imagine.
Congrats to BOTH Davids. I'll be strong supporter of both.
My hometown boy, and my favorite rocker.

Dee--I haven't even looked at anyone else's blog, but I think we are kindred spirits. I'm gonna go check it out right now!
I HATED the marching band and everything that went along with it.
and I heart that last picture of DC. so glad you posted and that you are recovered from the results. It was shocking to us all.
i LOVED the marching band thing - so hilar - i couldn't control my laughter at the cheerleaders and everything surrounding the "i am your brother" singer - soooo hilar.
i didn't like brooke's performance, at all. (don't hate me!) i think she has a nice voice/ok voice - but not great. def not top 10 american idol. (again - don't hate me)
amanda DID look tot bored being there! and i forgot about kristy lee cook - so much i could say about her - but i won't. (BLEH)
anyway - great re-cap. it was an AWES season. i can't wait to get cook's album. maybe archie's too - but my loyalties are to cook :)
I just am so sad. Even though I love Cook...I don't know why I keep putting myself in this place. Literally, I never have liked the winner ( doesn't mean they aren't the ones who should have it).
I loved Clay Aiken, Melinda Doolittle, Chirs Daughtry, and BO Bice ( thats right, I wanted him over Carrie, now I don't care).
I am just sad. The rumor is that being from UTAH in the end is what killed it. I watched IDOL all day on cable on Wednsday and EVERYONE they interviewed ( red carpet stuff you know for 3 hours on tv guide) said ARCHIE would win it for sure. I cannot begin to tell you how upset I still am...I need to stop.
I did love your recaps...thanks. I just might copy and paste some of it on my own blog---except the part about being ok with it.
Cook admitted he never really cared and wanted it for himself ( MY BROTHER LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, THE REASON I AM HERE)...Why can't the one who wants it more have it?
Ok, I am done. I need to stop being bitter. I just cant get that into it any more. I guess I am most sad that now who knows with ARchie. We can all say he will be big, but the only big runner up EVER on idol was Clay---and he was the exception. SOmeone tell me I will still here from Archie and he will be just as well known....
Loved the "I am your brother recap too and the movie plug." Overall, this was definetly my favorite year with the most talent.
Did it seem like Amanda was going to slit her wrists or something? LIke she was so mad to be there and wasn't trying at all? I do think it is lame that she has to come back and perform, but doesn't get to tour. OK OFFICIALLY DONE
Condolences on your loss. :) I wanted Archie to win too. But he'll have an awesome cd to buy so it's all good.
totally unrelated question....
how do you change the label on your blogs for comments...ie: rad responses.
thanks!
Even though I haven't heard Carrie Underwood's version of that George Michael song, I still like George Michael - that's the only other thing I disagree with you on. :) It was a fun night! Good job at summing up the results show!
perfect.
sad and happy and in love with the one republic performance too.
