Christmas Day 2013

At 7 o'clock on the dot, Cole came into our room announcing that it was time to go downstairs. We woke up Caleb and headed down to check out the loot! Cole was VERY concerned with and excited for Caleb. He thought it was pretty funny that he got formula in his stocking.

Santa gave Cole a game for the Wii U in his stocking, and since we didn't have a Wii U, we just figured it was a mistake {wink, wink} and we'd exchange it the next day. Well, Santa came through for us and the big family gift this year was a Wii U, which has been a lot of fun. I'm not much of a gamer, but the Wii is a gaming system that doesn't totally intimidate me and I've been glad to see that Cole doesn't obsess about playing it for hours at a time.

I love that Caleb is asleep in this. Like he even cares about Elmo...

Reading Santa's response
Danny and I had taken Cole to Walmart at separate times to pick up a $5 gift for each of us. While looking for a box I could use, I accidentally found the earrings that Cole picked out for me and then somehow accidentally told Danny that he was getting a magazine from Cole. I told him the wrong magazine, thankfully but basically I knew about every single gift that was going to be exchanged in our family on Christmas morning since Danny and I just bought a GC to the movies as our gifts to each other. Danny surprised me by getting me some hand soap so there was at least ONE gift I didn't know about. It might not sound very exciting but I was happy about it.

Grandpa Jack {as Cole refers to him} had made this wooden fire truck for Caleb like he has made for all the other great-grandchildren and he saved it for Christmas day. He has been so thoughtful with these gifts and a great thing to remember him by after he's gone.

After opening gifts, we changed and headed over to Whites for breakfast. The sisters-in-law did a gift exchange and I got Angie a cute scarf and got some adorable jewelry from McCall. She let me in on a little secret called Charming Charlie's which I now love and adore. She also got me some yummy scented oil. Scott was so thoughtful and got me these little clips that go in your car that smell like Gain. He totally didn't have to get me anything but he did and it was so nice of him. The siblings all pooled money together to give Mom & Dad White season tickets to Hale Centre Theatre. We're awesome like that. Danny's parents gave us a GC to The Cheesecake Factory which was perfect for our date night theme. After breakfast, we loafed around and the guys did their annual bionicle building while the girls sat around talking about girl stuff. I talked about how weird it was that last year at that time, Caleb wasn't even a "glimmer in our eye" so to speak and that it was totally possible that there could be a new baby for Christmas 2014. We went around the table predicting who it could be. {I didn't know this at the time, but Emily was pregnant and was just keeping it quiet. I haven't done the math on this, but we have since found out that McCall is also pregnant so it's possible that she was pregnant at the time and just didn't know it yet. So exciting!}

It was nice and relaxing--just like a good Christmas day should be. After a couple hours, we headed up to visit my Grandpa Miller in North Salt Lake. There were already a million people squished into his little house and while I was so happy that he wasn't feeling lonely without Grandma, I was feeling pretty claustrophobic so we stayed for about 30 minutes, and left for home. We had missed all the Millers that had come to visit my parents except for Willie and Amanda. This year we bought for Scott & Melissa and we bought them Despicable Me 2. Brian and Kam gave us a GC to Fandango (score!) , an outfit for Caleb and a game for Cole. Danny and I got my parents a GC to the movies and they gave each of the kids an emergency toilet which isn't necessarily a "fun" gift but it's practical and I hope we never have to use it :). I was starting to feel a bad cold coming on and didn't feel like doing much so we just hung out for the rest of the day and played the Wii. Another great Christmas in the books.
