Setting up Christmas
If I recall correctly, my Mom had surgery in early December so we were in charge of setting up Christmas. We started with the only version of Elf on the Shelf we will probably ever own. It's fascinating to me how much controversy surrounds this silly little elf. There were articles wildly circulating all over Facebook about it. Mothers are so judgmental towards each other about whether they do or don't use "the elf". I couldn't care less one way or the other. To each, his/her own. We choose not to do it. No biggie. Cole has never asked about it or shown any sign of disappointment that we don't have an elf so I haven't even brought it up with him. I think we're probably in the 10-20% of parents that don't do it but that's okay.
You can't find a box full of antlers and headbands like this and not try them on.
We lit the fire {flipped a switch}, had Christmas music playing happily in the background and decked the place out. I can't wait to be in our own place next year for Christmas. It's never the same when you're not in your own space but we made do and were thankful to have a warm roof over our heads!
Our stockings were in storage so I picked up some cheap ones at the dollar store and used glue and glitter to put on our names on them. All of Mom and Dad's stuff was in a storage unit too so they made do as well. I actually don't think they're that terrible looking for being from the dollar store.

The next morning I tried a silly hat on Caleb again because I needed a laugh. Looks like he didn't think it was all that funny.
