Father's Day 2014

Father's Day snuck up on me this year because it was at the end of a week where Danny had three cakes going. That always seems to throw things off because it just creates a lot of chaos in the kitchen and weird time constraints and deliveries, etc. I don't know--it just throws us off our groove. I had an idea right after we got home from Spencer's baptism luncheon and I grabbed the camera and took the boys outside while Danny was finishing up the cake for Willie's surprise party. I grabbed some frames from my mom's craft room and printed up some quick signs. Caleb was fussy and didn't want to cooperate but I think the pictures that I ended up using worked just fine. Here are a few that I took. I ended up picking my three favorites and making a collage that we gave to grandparents, Danny and great-grandparents.

I rolled out of bed completely exhausted on Father's Day morning. I immediately got to work making Mountain Man breakfast since I knew that was a favorite of Danny's. We gave him an Amazon GC along with the pictures. I'm not sure if it's just Danny or men in general but I never know what to get him! Gift cards seem lame coming from a spouse--but seriously, he is hard to buy for.

I honestly can't remember what we did after church but I'm sure we all took naps because that is what we always do after church :) Well, Cole usually just does quiet time in his room but the rest of us take naps. I made sure to not let Danny help with anything in the kitchen and then we went over to the Whites for a BBQ. I'm bummed that I didn't get a picture of all 3 of my boys that day but you win some, you lose some.

Danny is a great Dad. He is hands-on and loves to play with his boys. He makes Caleb laugh and giggle like nobody else can and is always up for playing Lego's with Cole or making forts, riding bikes, helping in the kitchen, etc. He is a fantastic father and I will always be grateful that my boys have a good example to look to. They will know how to treat women, how to jump in and help out at home and how to have fun.

Here is just a little proof of the fun:

FaceTime with Dad

Danny was playing catch with Cole last Sunday and Cole was really struggling with being afraid of the ball. I mentioned that when I was younger, my brother Nate would stuff pillows in my shirt when I first started learning to play catch. I felt invincible and it really worked so Cole wanted to give it a try.

See? A good dad chucks a football at his son. And just for the record, the method still works :)
